Technical Assistance Credential

The Technical Assistance (TA) Credential is designed for professionals working in a variety of roles that relate to relationship-based professional development (for example: Coach, Mentor, Quality Specialists, Professional Development Advisors, etc.)

The Technical Assistance Credential is a symbol of professional achievement for those who:

  • Act as a coach, mentor, consultant and/or technical assistance provider supporting ECE and School-Age professionals.
  • Exhibit commitment to the use of evidence-based practices when providing service to others.
  • Utilize relationship-based methods to recognize and build on strengths and capacities of practitioners and programs.
  • Demonstrate action in pursuit of their own professional development.
  • Understand principles of adult learning.

You can earn the Gateways Technical Assistance Credential by compiling your education, experience and qualifications or attending an entitled institution and completing the required program. If you recently attended (since 2015) and completed the required courses at one of the Entitled Institutions below, your application will be processed through the Entitled Route. If you did not, your application will go through the Direct Route process. To make it easier on you the Steps to Apply are the same.

Steps to Apply

  1. Become a Gateways Registry member.
  2. Download the Technical Assistance Credential Application.
  3. Fill out the Supplement Application including the Work & Practical Experience Form and Information Update Form.
  4. Enclose a $30 check for credential fee (made payable to INCCRRA) or make a payment online by logging into your Registry Dashboard.  Click on My Registry and then choose the Make a Payment section. 
  5. Mail these documents to:

  6. Request your official transcripts be sent to Gateways from any accredited college or university you attended. An accredited college or university can send official transcripts electronically to This email address is being protected from spambots. You need JavaScript enabled to view it..  If INCCRRA already has official transcripts on file you do not need to resend.

Entitled for the TA Credential

An Entitled Institution is a college or university who has aligned their coursework with the Technical Assistance Credential requirements. You would have had to recently attend (since 2015) and complete the required TA Credential courses to be considered for the Entitled Route. The higher education institutions currently entitled to offer the Technical Assistance Credential are:

  • Highland Community College (Level 4)
  • Rend Lake College (Level 4)
  • Kendall College (Level 5)
  • Rasmussen College (Level 5)
  • Roosevelt University (Level 6)
